The AEF Awards for Aerospace Education Excellence were established to motivate and recognize participation in AEF
programs, to encourage AFA organizations to participate in AEF programs and to recognize excellence in the execution
of aerospace education programs. The program is two-tiered: the first tier is the President’s Award and the second
tier is the Chairman’s Award

Requirements/Selection Criteria
- AFA Chapters who complete the three Aerospace Education Goals under AFA Strategic Plan
Theme 1 will receive the President’s Award.
- Theme 1 is: Educate the public about the critical role of aerospace power in the defense of
our nation. The 3 aerospace education goals are:
Each chapter reach the grassroots (non-choir audiences) through at least one out
reach program per year, to include contact /speaking opportunities to service clubs,
church groups, chambers of commerce, local newspapers-editorial boards, political
organizations, etc.
Implement the Teacher of the Year recognition program.
Participate in at least one aerospace education program per year.
- Selection will be based on Chapter Quarterly Reports for the 12 month period from
1 July through 30 June.
Award Allocation
- Certificate to be mailed to each chapter by September 1 of each year.
- Chapter members attending the AFA National Convention will receive an Aerospace
Education ribbon to be worn on their convention badge.

- Accomplish all aerospace education goals as defined in the AFA Strategic Plan.

Requirements/Selection Criteria
- One page narrative submitted by the Chapter explaining why the Chapter’s Aerospace
Education programs are exceptional.
- Theme 1 is: Educate the public about the critical role of aerospace power in the defense of
our nation. The 3 aerospace education goals are:
- AEF Officers will form a panel to select a maximum of three awards per year.
Award Allocation
- A maximum of three chapters will be selected each year to receive the Chairman’s Award.
- The award consists of a check for $1,000 and a plaque.
- The Chairman’s Award will be awarded at the AFA National Convention.
Guidelines
- There is no limit to the number of times a chapter may win the Chairman’s Award.
- The narrative award nomination is limited to one page.
